On the way up to the Andorran ski resort of Arcalis, Jan Ullrich achieved his legendary ride to the yellow jersey in 1997 and later to overall victory in the Tour de France. In contrast to the slightly higher Port d'Envalira, this road is much less frequented by traffic, as it leads to a dead end in the north-westernmost tip of Andorra.

The profile shows a short flat section at kilometre 20 near the valley station of the cable car. Behind it, the winding climb leads upwards.


After Andorra La Vella, the route heads towards Ordino and La Massana.


Regularly recurring signs at the roadside describe the remaining route for cyclists.


As everywhere in Andorra, there are separate lanes for cyclists on large parts of the route.


The route passes through idyllic villages.


Shortly before the large car park at the cable car station, this painting commemorates great Tour de France moments.


Behind the car park, there is a nice passageway for cyclists.


Then twelve hairpin bends in a row lead up to the cable car's mountain station, without any regular traffic to disturb you.


The smooth asphalt road climbs steadily upwards.

This is followed by a long final straight towards the cable car mountain station.

In fact, it continues a little further behind until the path turns to gravel and it is better to switch to a gravel bike.
