Cima Pedro Gonzales 490m

Cima Pedro Gonzales is a small pass in the south of Gran Canaria, which can be reached from Maspalomas via two parallel paths. Opinions vary greatly as to which path is more beautiful. The eastern ascent is described here, which then leads back west to the starting point.

Start: Maspalomas 41m
Altitude difference (total distance): 547m
Distance (total distance): 27km
January 2026

The eastern ramp climbs moderately to the village of Ayagaures. Here, there is a short detour to a reservoir behind it, before the more challenging final section up to the pass summit begins. On the western side, the descent is significantly steeper.

Start in the north of Maspalomas

Here you decide whether to take the eastern ramp on the right or the western ramp on the left.

The first 11 kilometres are not very spectacular. It's just straight ahead.

It only gets more interesting in the village of Ayagaures. At the very back of the rocky slope, you can see the rest of the route up to the pass.

If you continue straight ahead in the village, you will come to a small reservoir.

Beautiful view back. However, the reservoir is quite empty.

Back on the right track behind the village

It becomes significantly more winding.

A fun climb in perfect weather

And then, after a short ride, you are already at the top of the pass.

This is what it looks like on the other side of the pass.

Magnificent villas dominate the view here in the upper part of the westbound ascent.
