Col du Galibier 2,645m

Good old Galibier - regularly the "Roof of Tour de France" and along with famous Col du Tourmalet, Alpe d'Huez and Mont Ventoux one of "the" classic climbs of the Tour. The route leads on its northern ramp from Valloire only straight ahead on its first 9 kilometers up to an altitude of 1,900m, then passes a little creek and routes on endless serpentines up into the heart of Tour de France. On top one has an amazing view to opposite 4,000m high Ecrin massif. As an appetizer you can firstly take on northern ramp the route via Col du Telegraphe (see also route of cycling marathon La Marmotte).

Start: Valloire 1,400m
Altitude difference: 1,236m
